Outdoors geForce FX 5200 shutdown...?

Help...
After installing my new GeForce FX 5200 256Mb ram Graphics card, the system just shutsdown in the middle of games. It only happens during very graphics intense parts.
It is not getting to hot - i even bought a seperate chipset cooler for it, the cpu is also running at about 40oC.

Could it be a compatibility problem?

Motherboard - Abit NF7-S, 512Mb system Ram, Atholon 2600+, 400W power supply.

The old graphics card (Nvidia TNT2 32 Mb card worked fine, but obviously couldnt run any of todays games.)

P.S. Once the system shuts down you need to pull the power cable out and then once reinserted it boots fine.
I have tried reinstalling the latest drivers.

Thanks for any ideas,

Chris

It could be the graphics card is overheating. Shut downs during intense scenes are a common indicator. it might also be your PSU. How many watts is it?

power source is 400W. The card is not getting to hot. Neither is my CPU (i have a nexus bay monitor with heat probes near the CPU and graphics chip. Temps are 40 and 38 respectively.)

I just cant figure it out.
