GA-7N400-L not booting at all :(

Here's what I have:

Gigabyte GA-7N400-L Mobo
Athlon XP 1800+
2 x 512 MB Infineon PC3200 Dual Channel
Xtasy GeForce 3 Ti 200
350 Watt PS

The 1800+ is an older CPU I've been using, GeForce 3 Ti is also a card I've been using for a while, the PS is new, RAM is new, Motherboard is new.

I installed everything, the CPU fan is running as well as the other fans, but nothing shows up on my monitor. I've tested it with 3 different monitors, and had the same effect...no signal. I've tested with 3 different video cards also: GeForce 3 Ti 200, GeForce 2 MX something, and GeForce 4 MX440. the MX440 may be fried...not sure.

So I really have no idea why nothing will show up on the monitor. Like I said, I tested it with 3 known working monitors and had teh same effect. Is there something buggy with the dual channel ram? How about probs with using certain vid cards with 8x AGP?

Do you still have your OLD motherboard. I'd try that first adding one component at a time to check out all my hardware. Good Luck

BTW Welcome Hope all works out OK

At Home Possible problem with GA-7N400-L

Hello, I also have a GA-7N400-L board and I'm running Dual Channel PC3200 DDR and my monitor won't turn on. I think the issue is instability with having DIMM 3 occupied by the fast ram. On the gigabyte site there's a BIOS update that mentions the need to reduce ram frequency to 266 Mhz if Dimm 3 and 4 are occupied. I'm not sure if the update actually fixes the problem to allow you to run it at 400 Mhz. I just encountered the problem last night so I haven't got it working yet.

My computer was working fine with the frequency at 333Mhz, then when I tried to change it to 400 and I saved the CMOS, kaboom, it shut off and I couldn't boot, and like you said, the monitor won't get a signal. I haven't had a chance to try yet, but what i'm going to do it take Dimm 3 out and just run the stick in Dimm 1 to see if that allows me to boot up. Then I'll probably email Gigabyte and tell them to make an update to support the Dual Channel DDR 400 like it says on the box.

I hope this helps you, let me know.

Good luck.
