Help with JavaScript menu problem (positioning)

Hello!

I have a problem with a Javascript menu that I have installed on my site.

The problem is the following:
when the webpage containing the menu is resized, the menu (which obviously "floats" over the page) will remain exactly in the position specified by its properties (I created it with a menu editor), rather than reposition itself according to the new size.

So the menu ends up covering other parts of the page and being mostly unusable (unless the page is maximized) and ugly.

I thought I had specified all the relevant options in the menu editor program I used (AllWebMenus), but it doesn't seem to work.

I checked out java menus on other sites and none of them has this problem. So I downloaded one such page and opened it with Dreamweaver to discover that there is a Layer item in the area where the menu appears once loaded... apparently an "anchor" feature which restricts the position of the menu to that particular area.

Obviously I am a real newbie and don't have a clue about how to use these features and make them work for me! But this DIY approach is all I can afford.

Does anyone know how can I create such an anchor for my javascript menu?

Any pointers, comments or info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I uploaded just the menu with a quick background just to show what I mean... the site is in work-in-progress stage and I haven't put it online yet.

But even like this it should be pretty evident what's happening: just resize the window and you'll see the menu remaining in the same spot and going over the background elements.

Well with my complete lack of programming knowledge this is what I came up with

Not sure if its what you wanted exactly but i think it works a little better. Basically llayers make stuff a mess in a hurry, a simple table ought to work there.

Hey, thanks a lot! Really! I truly appreciate your kind help.

I really didn't think of doing it that way, the thing though is that my original menu had a drop-down submenu (on the 'Products' category), which is not showing up on your example, because basically it's not a javascript item anymore! but more just images that have "javascript" as link attributes.

Do you know a way to make my Products tab display their dropdown menu again and still remain in place like you had it?

What about layers? Do you know anything about how I could use them to accomplish this goal?

If anyone has further suggestions on this matter I would really be grateful.. Thank you!

Not quite but THANKS anyway; in the meanwhile I fixed the problem the way I wanted -- somebody on another forum pointed me to the information I needed, right there smack dab in the middle of the documentation of my menu editing program.. That entitles me to a big fat Duh! Award I guess

But thanks nonetheless for your efforts, it was really nice to get a response right away by someone trying to help.
