IDE or ATA

hi,

i'm looking at getting a new hard drive at www.zipzoomfly.com and was wondering if it was better to get an ATA or IDE drive. i really don't know what the difference is. thx

They're the same. However, there is another type of drive called serial ATA, or SATA, which can be much faster. Depends on what your system can handle.

IDE and ATA are the same. They use the standard "ribbon" cables. There is a new thing now called "serial ATA" whcih uses an entirely new type of connector...so watch for that..but if it just says "ATA" or "IDE"..its just two ways of saying the same thing.
