HELP, huge problems with new v-card (screen is blinking)

Hi

guys I need help bad

I got a new v-card, its a Inno3D FX5200 128mb 8x card
I installed the thing and now my screen blinks now and then and the computer also freezes now and then
pretty much impossible to use

anyone know what this might be ?

my motherboard is a gigabyte 7va-c (the book didnt say anything about 8x agp so Im thinking maybe its no supported or something ?)
also I checked the power rails and the 5v and 3.3v are behind, the 5v shows 4.73 and the 3,3 shows 3,21 - could this be the problem ?

please help, please please

Thank you
Dan

The FX5200 is backwards compatable to 4X AGP. I have this card myself. I had it in my old P3 with 4x AGP and it worked fine. Are you using DirectX 9.0 a/b? That's a must for the FX cards to work right.

did you actually uninstall the old drivers before installing the new card?

correct, the computer will run in standard vga mode if the issue persists then the card or drivers could be causing the problems

agressive bios settings may also be an issue make sure you are at board defaults until it works smoothly

Are you using the card manufacturer's drivers? This can go 2 ways. Most of the time, the manufacturer's drivers work best. Other times, you might want to give NVIDIA's unified drivers a try.

My FX5200 card is made by Asylum. I loaded their drivers, and all seemed fine. Then I noticed my Marine Screen Aquarium screensaver would freeze. Links 2001, would only work using the software renderer. If I tried to use my card's accelerator, it would lock up.

Microsoft had the usual suggestions, none of which worked, or they were things I had already done like having DirectX 9. On a whim, I asked for help from the creators of my aquarium screensaver. They recommended the NVIDIA unified drivers. I downloaded the most recent, uninstalled my current drivers, and then installed the unified drivers. All the problems went away.
