Network Question

Hey I want to play my friend Warcraft III with LAN but how do I hook up the connection. I hooked up a network cable to his comp from mine but it doesn't show that i am hooked up to it. how do I make it so that I can play him?? TY

also do I need an NIC card?? and a special cable or will a regular ethernet port and networking cable work??

If you both are directly connected via a NIC card then will need a cross-over cable a regular network cable will not work. To play each other I'm pretty sure the game will have to be installed on both computers

Built in ethernet port and a NIC are the same thing basically.

As stated, you need a crossover cable...a regular ethernet cable wont work.

As the other suggested, you'll need a crossover cable. Or, if you're looking to get more people in on the action eventually, you could invest in a switch, which only requires standard patch cables.

a few dollars up i just bought a couple of 25' for a little less than $ 8.00 each

try greatcables.com if you do no have the stuff to make one yourself

bestbuy also sells crossovers but not in any great length up to 7 feet or so i think
