Address Book

In Outlook Express i am unable to open my address book, it comes up with a box with the message that the Address Book may not be installed properly, so how do i install it.
I have found my contacts and addresses on disk but can't use them in Outlook, it's driving me mad.

My O/S is X P Pro, If i try to import the address book i get the message " the address book failed to load Outlook Express is incorrectly configured please re install" I have the address book in a file with a shortcut on the desktop but it needs to be in Outlook,
