Tech Annoying WindowsXP bug in command prompt

I am finding it extremely annoying and irritating that the "edit" command fails to work if your directories are nested 8 levels deep or more. 7 or fewer, and it can edit files. 8 or more, and it cannot, at least on my machine.

Someone else want to try this out to verify???

I am trying to get to C:\DOCUME~1\Daniel\Desktop\SDLUNZ~1\SDL-12~1.6\MINGWF~1\I386-M~1\bin
and access files in there with the "edit" command. I can access all but 8 levels deep.....I have tried it with other directories which are nested 8 levels deep as well, and no access. 7 levels deep and access.

Grrrr....this is so annoying

Have you tried changing directories and running edit while in the folder?

have you tried it on a different file buried 8 layers deep...in case it is just having a problem with that 1 file?

Yes, and, in fact, I have tried it with different folders/directories buried 8 levels deep as well.

Each one fails, whereas anything 7 levels deep succeeds, from my tests.

I would just like some verification.

Okay, someone else has just tested this for me, but on WindowsXP Professional edition, and he was able to nest 9 levels deep with no problems.

I have WindowsXP Home Edition.

Now I need someone who has WindowsXP Home Edition to verify if this bug exists on his/her machine.
