3d gone AWOL

Right, my 3d functionality seems to have gone AWOL. Even Glxgears seg faults:
Code:
richard@nexus richard $ glxgears
Segmentation fault
richard@nexus richard $
What's the deal? It all worked the other day. One thing I do remember is that I recompiled X for some reason, I probably have the old one backed up somewhere, and I'll try and get that back up, but do any of you know what might cause this? Running 2.6.0-test5 with ck patches, and Xfree 4.3-r3 on Gentoo. All compiled with gcc 3.3.1 with "-Os -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -mcpu=athlon-xp"

Doesn't matter, solved it. Turned down my GCC optimisation level. This had been compiled with -O4! Recompiled X, and patched GCC.
Works now anyway.

Wow! I've never optimised beyond -O2. Guess I'm a real chicken.

Glad to hear you got it working though.

-O3 and above stuff gets messy. Sometimes, depending on the program its much faster to use -O2 or even -Os (Optimise for size). Most programs don't work right if you use O5 or O6.
Some things benifit from higher optomisation level (X for instance, but not in this case) and it makes sense to try the best you can go with, and if it doesn't work, fix it.
