Barton 2500+ Voltages

I have a Athlon XP2500+ Barton running at 2200Mhz (200 x 11) I have tried running prime95 but soon crashes after a few mins of testing running the torture test at 1.775 volts.

Can you telkl me the maximum voltage that I can use (my mobo goes up to 1.900 volts) to get my system stable.

I have good cooling (40 deg C Idle and 46 deg C full load at 22 deg C room temp) so increasing the temp does not matter too much (I can always turn up the fan speeds)

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Complete System Specs

Barton 2500+ Processor
Asus A7N8X Deluxe Mobo
512Mb DDR400 / PC2300 Samsung RAM

Increase voltage as needed but with voltage comes temp.

You really shouldn't need to increase the voltage anymore than what you're already at to run it at 3200+ speeds... More than likely its a memory timing issue... What are your timings at, and what vdimm are you running?

The samsung ram is clocked at 8 - 4 - 4 CL3T at the moment. I have managed to get the system stable.

I have upped the FSB to 215 Mhz and the multiplier to 10.5 giving about 2250Mhz (aprox. XP3300+) with no problems at 1.8 volts.

CPU temps are 41 idle and 49 load (22 deg C room temp)

The ram is rates at CL2.5 at up to 167 Mhz and CL3 up to 200 Mhz (this is not expensive RAM)

I am unable to run the system any faster because of the limitations of the RAM. I could up the voltage but I do not want to.

My comp runs all the usual tests pefectly i.e. running primp95 for 3 hours 2 hour loop of 3DMark2001SE. I need to do this because I run Seti all the time.

Comp works fine when the voltage of the CPU is lower but not 100% stable (which I need)

The next step is to get a better power supply for better voltage control / noise control.

that is odd - already nearing 1.8?? that will certainly lower cpu life. that is way too high IMHO.

i run my 2500 at 209x2 fsb @ 3300+ (2.31ghz) and i am stable at 1.7v (with my ram at 2.8v).
