Gaming homemade mp3 player

I have been turned on to the idea of building my own mp3 player for my car. Was wondering if anyone out there had any great sites that might help me on my newest quest. The major thing that I want to be able to do is connect the hd through a usb cable so i can easily update any files with my home pc. All help is greatly appreciated..no i am not cheap doing this for the fun...I actually believe this will be a more expensive than buying a stupid ipod..look what i bought, nah I am sure many of you can appreciate this lil project. www.techimo.com rules!

I had an inexpensive portable MP3 player that I plugged into the aux in on the head unit and tossed it in the unused ashtray, worked fine---my new setup plays mp3 so I now just put 150 or so tracks on a 5¢ cd and shove it in---works about equal...

Try www.dashpc.com, that's the best in-car system I've seen.

My friend also told me about a little device that you plug a standard hard drive into, there's a wired control unit with an lcd title readout. All you have to do is run power to it and stick it in your glovebox or something. It connects via RCA L/R plugs I believe. No clue what it's called sorry
