Removed my fan guard

I have a Volcano 11 Xaser Edition which has a really nice looking fan grille. The problem is that is greatly reducs the airflow over the heatsink so I removed it and fitted a bog standard 80mm grille and my temps dropped by a massive 5 deg C at full load!

The sound level has also gone down making my computer quieter. It's amazing what you can do by just removing the restriction.

You can view a pic of the inside of my case in my gallery.

I've done that to most of my case fans, especially the ones with the little holes for a gard. You can tripple your air flow with no gard on the front fans where you don't need a gard, and the ones that need gards, I agree the wire grill gards have very little restriction.
