Kids AMD 2600+ 333mhz + Soltek SL-75FRN2-RL SETTINGS

1.Hmm just bought a new computer in pieces and then assembled it yesterday.. So how should i set the settings in the BIOS??
Cause i bought a Amd athlon xp 2600+ 0.13 333hmz fsb which they said whould be 2,133ghz but it was just 1.9ghz when i changed the jumper on the mobo to FSB=166mhz.. Then i changed the fsb in the bios to 174 i think.. then it went to like 2.0ghz or 2.04ghz..
And when i play Halo there is an exeption after a while playing :S..

2.It says Memory frequence= 200mhz when i reboot, but i have ELIXIR, 2x256, 400mhz, PC3200.. ??

3.When i tried to change the settings in the bios to "agressive" the computer wont boot.. so whats the prooob??

4. Im also thinking of clocking the graphics card (Connect3d radeon 9600 pro), and i already have the clock addon to the settings on the videocard tab.. :P.. Any suggestions about that??

5.My cpu temp is always around 49-50 (exept when i start it , then its like 43...) Is this much for this cpu and these settings?? I maybe should get a chassi fan in the back.. ??

Thanx alot...

ps. Kinda newbie in clocking cause my other computer couldnt be changed anwhare :P..

Send a message via ICQ to Ultima
if it reboots spantaniously, up the vcore a little bit, that should make it a bit more stable

Welcome to TechIMO teposen1.

First of all you need to get your system running stable at stock speed before you try to overclock anything.

The 2600+ comes in 2 flavours:

1. 266MHz fsb = 2133MHz clock speed
2. 333MHz fsb = 2083MHz clock speed

neither has a Barton core ...which has 512Kb L2 cache compared to your 256Kb!

The label will tell you which you have when you check it at the AMD website! Do this before you go any further ...if you heat it up to much thru inadvertant overclocking you may void the warrenty.

Correct!

some unscrupulous dealers will try and pass the 266mhz fsb model off as the higher rated one, because not many ppl are buying 266mhz processors anymore and they need to shift old stock! that is why you need to find out exactly what it is you have ...or you may damage it! If it's not the 333 version, you should return it IMO.
