either you may need to adjust the gamma correction, or one of your monitor guns is flaky is the most likely. however, the contrast setting for some monitors can bring up the green a fair bit especially on dark screens/images. or it may be that your green sub brightness is in need of adjustment. this and the first cause are STRICTLY THE REALM OF QUALIFIED REPAIRMEN. THERE ARE LETHAL VOLTAGES INSIDE YOUR MONITOR EVEN WHEN SWITCHED OFF AND UNPLUGGED. sorry for shouting but ZAPPED TO DEATH is not good.

If I mess with my contrast it goes away but then the screen is really bright

you could try balancing your contrast adjustments with brightness adjustments, or tweak your gamma settings (software) or even adjust your screen refresh rate from default to optimal or vice versa or a named frequency. may be that your screen sub brightness needs tweaked, but this is a job for the repairman unless you have a control on the back of your monitor for it sticking out of the case. do not be tempted to poke stuff inside the case to reach internal controls. it is unlikely that you have the necessary control on the back of your monitor unless it is an old model. you may also be able to adjust your gamma from the monitor itself if it is a really swanky model.

I don't think we will be able to see what you see...

since the problem is related to the way your monitor is displaying images.
