Systems IBM 380D and Windows Me

I need help. I have an old IBM 380D on which I am trying to do a clean install of Windows Me. (Please don't give me grief for Win Me). According to Chairman Bill's team, Win Me "runs best" on a Pentium 150 MHz or better, with 32 MB RAM or better and needs 1,500 MB of free disk space to install. The 380D is a 150 MHz Pentium with 80 MB RAM and a 3 GB disk, all according to IBM EasySetup. When I run the Win Me setup program it tells me that it can not install Win Me 'cos it "needs" a Pentium running at 150 MHz or better. Does anyone know a way around this impasse? Are ther hidden switches for Win Me setup which will over-ride the 150 MHz requirement?

I understand that its a clean install, but do you have a copy of Win98 that you could install first and then upgrade to ME? I upgraded my IBM Thinkpad 385XD at one time to ME from Win98 and it worked fine. Just a thot....
