Internet lost, due to:new.net & backweb deletion via regsysedit?

okey dokey, here it goes..i'm a newbie here.....I did all the searches for my topic" internet connection lost after deletion of imesh,gator,new.net,back web...etc via regsysedit & ad-aware(Carefully!!) delted....and couldn't find something to resolve my problem.

My Operating system is: Windows XP.


3. What I have done to try to fix the problem.
1) restore to previous time before it worked...did not work.
2)re-install i.Explorrer
3) re-click tcp/ip settings..restart..and re click
4)get the download to uninstall new.dot.net online....
5)Searched for imesh,gator,new.dotnet & back web via regsys edit and deleted the files from there? I'm assuming THAT'S what messed this all up??? I only deleted the files that found those "searched" names...

So, i'm left with the decision of either a possible way of fixing? or just starting all over and use my recovery disk...which i'm willing to do ..but you know is a royal pain in the arrse

hmmmm i sought out this site: http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm...
but i was not sure how to "reset connections fully perhaps? because my o/s is Windows XP? theirs looks like win98 (what i'm currently using now to use internet) hmmm i just don't know instead of unchecking "connections" do i un-check "networking sevices?" and then proceed with directions from this page..

You do have system restore.

Restore your system to an earlier date and then run the newest version of Adaware or Spyybot.

They are the safest way of removing spyware.

What has happened is even though you are presented with an uninstaller with many of the spyware's, don't use them. If a third party has gotten a hold of the spyware program and modified it, it might not uninstall properly. Out the door went your Winsoc32.dll and it took the Internet capabilities with it. Web Enhanser was just such a program a while back. If you had the original version of Web Enhanser you could just uninstall it from Add/Remove Programs. But how do you tell if it is the original version?

Don't worry about it. Get a spyware remover to do the job for you.

I've never tried to extract a file from Windows XP CD so I can't instruct you how.

You could run sfc /scannow and see if windows detects the missing file. ( Winsoc32.dll ) that's probably what's keeping you off the Net.

it appears i am missing...."Click the plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE so that its contents are shown.
Click the plus sign next to System so that its contents are shown.
Click the plus sign next to CurrentControlSet so that its contents are shown.
Click the plus sign next to Services so that its contents are shown.

Click the Winsock item. " part of my registery....(which makes sence why i don't have an internet conn, right?

how can i fix this? and how do i safely install???

this exact same thing happened to my girl friend......good thing is shes getting a new system and im gonna get her win2k and ive finally convinced here P2P is more trouble than its worth

Acutally download spybot and run that. When new.net is unistalled the network drivers need to be repaired. Spybot can repair them for you.

hmmm spybot is not the same as ad-aware? i can't fit spybot.zip on my A:\ .....should i find someone w/ a disk writer and transfer it that way to my other comP?

Spybot is not the same as ad-aware. It is best IMO to run both. Spybot will probably be able to repair the driver, is it possible to find someone who can burn it for you?

Also, try reinstalling the driver for your network and see if that fixes it. It just might.
