wtf damn cookies...
ok, now this might be another addition to the no brainer posts ive had latley but this is irritating me...
when i go to sign into my email at netscape, it tells me that i have to enable my cookies....yadda yadda....
now this happened to me about a month ago and i couldnt figure out how to reset them....anyway, i reformatted as my os was jam packed with crap, and now with a fresh install its doing the same damn thing....i know how to get to the setting for the cookies, however there is nothing to check off to enable cookies, and trust me ive looked everywhere in the securities tab on the internet options panel...anyone know what is doin this....or atleast what the hell is going on?

My advise would to use IE or some other browser. In IE you go to Tools, then Internet Options..., then Privacy.

What's the site? It could be bad code on their side.
It maybe trying to set an illegal cookie.

A fresh install? If you tried to find cookie handling in WinY2K on the Privacy tab you will need an update to I.E.6 for the Advanced button. When you click on the Advanced button you get this:
Don't ask me about Netscape.
Cheers!

in mozilla go tools>cookie manager>unblock cookies from this site or tools>cookie manager>manage stored cookies>cookie sites>remove site. don't know how similar netscape is, is it just the rendering engine they share or other stuff?

I have had similar problems using IE and aol webmail. Seems to be Zone Alarm stops something. I disable it, log in and then enable it.

In the picture given by beemer, you click the "Edit" button at the bottom. From that menu, you will have a list of domains that have had rules created for them. Look for the domain that site is using (and sometimes they have several domains they use). If you see that domain on the list, it will either say Always Block or Always Allow. Click on the domain and click "Remove". Or you can select "remove all" which will cancel any/all rules set for domain specific cookies.
I would also not "Block" any cookies, I have mine set to prompt for all cookies, first or third party. Blocking can cause undesired results for some. And accepting, even first party cookies, can get some cookies many of us do not want in our systems. If you have it prompt, you can allways click "Apply my decision to all cookies from this website", wether it be allow or deny.
hope that helps |
