Missing General Tab In I.E.

It's Win2k, the user don't know which version of I.E. he has. It's a home PC , but it's definitely above 5 because that's the minimum setup we do here. I've read that running anti-spyware program may or may not solve it. There are registry edits for W98 and XP but I can't find anything on Win2k. Does anyone know any registry fix for Win2k?

Did you try reinstalling IE?

For sure check for virus and spyware!

Yea he did. He said someone gave him a CD. Hmmm I guess that means it's I.E 6 since that's what we use now. I'll do the spyware thing, but just want to cover all the bases. I read the W98 and XP registry fixes do work, so I want to find one for W2k just to be sure.

Edit: He said he ran Adaware and Spybot and they didn't work.

If he goes to Help -> About Internet Explorer, it'll tell him exactly which version of IE he's got.

There's a quick fix for this that involves just changing a DWORD value in the Registry but XP registry fixes won't neccesarily work for w2k so *please* make a backup of the reg before changing anything!!
