Noobescense
Drawing from experiences, I can deduce that the word "noob" is applicable when:
a) Your own stupidity is actually to blame for your death, but you are unwilling to accept it.
b) Your inability to let go of preconceived notions about "fairness" (Why R U spawn camping me NooB?!?) makes you a victim, and you can't take it anymore.
c) You are a moron who has to uphold his self-image as the king of all FPS's, because to do otherwise would result in your ego unraveling and an ugly suicide involving Drano.
As best I can figure, the term n00b derives from newbie, which is a term for inexperienced or without skill. This new application of the word seems to suggest that it may only be used by those to whom it properly applies.
Psychologically speaking, its the "I'm rubber you're glue" approach to life.

I'm not a n00b.
Ub3r 1337 hax0r I b3.
Hence my credentials:
Down below I will list my gaming experiences for reference.
=======================
Gaming Experiences:
=======================
==------------------------------==
First Person Shooters-//
==---------------------------==
Planetside
Battlefield 1942 & Desert Combat
MechWarrior 2: Mercs
MechWarrior 3: Original
MechWarrior 3: Pirates Moon
MechWarrior 4: Vengeance
MechWarrior 4: Mercs
Command & Conquer: Renegade
Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast
Giants: Citizen Kabuto
Unreal Tournament
Unreal Tournament: 2003
Quake 3 Arena
Battlezone
Battlezone 2
Tribes 2
Tron 2.0
Various FPS Demos
Arcade Shooters Galore
==------------------------------==
Real Time Strategy-//
==---------------------------==
Starcraft
Warcraft 3
Command and Conquer: Generals
Various RTS Demos
----------------------
These are just my recent computer games from the past 5 years off the top of my head.
I have extreme amounts of command and leadership experiences in the 4 years of Mechwarrior RPG'n. I've led squads, units, groups and been Kahn of 2 clans and SaKahn of 1 (1st and 2nd highest ranks), worked my way up the ranks of a couple others.
My FPS experience holds me well on the fields, I just have to adapt to new weapons, physics and environments to be successful in battle. I work well with a team and can coordinate assaults myself or take orders from capable commanders. Sometimes I improvise or "add lib" my orders to work well with the situation since I know from experience that not everything in battle can be mapped out in 1 plan, I'm not a mindless grunt.
I like specializing in death dealing. No sneaky bullsh*t for me. In your face death. That includes gunnery of vehicles and weaponry, I like to pilot air vehicles but I'm not so inclined at ground vehicles. I usually have personal transportation of sorts.
**cough**

its this crap that really gives off the impression that you have only a life within gaming [==------------------------------==] and the l33t speak drives me up the wall, especially when used more than half seriously.
the term "n00b" and "newbie" come from being new to something, that is to say, one might venture out to the world of online gaming, only to be crushed by an experienced player as a lack of experience and premature ability.
however, in many areas, the term n00b is a throwdown to those who are being destroyed by a very good player, namely those players who have no other lives than what lie in the tube of magical color and light.
Im glad to hear that you consider yourself good at gaming, and that you pride yourself in a history of generally good games, but until you have played a RTS like AOE2 or AOM, you have not been thoroughly "owned" it is an experience like none other, and you will never forget it.
Usually the best players on the net never talk about how good they are, and usually don't talk about their artful ability to slaughter in great numbers... i consider myself to be average in gaming, i go out, i have fun, i come home.. end of that. I have friends who think that they are great, and their every waking moment is consumed with proving their ability to those online who will forget them in but a few short minutes.
Have you considered doing other things with your time? Not to say that there is anything wrong with your past time, it certainly is fun and i won't deny that... but you've got to get past the facination with games about your senior year in highschool.. you soon realize that you have no real world skills other than the twitching index finger you once used to dominate all the eye can see.
maybe ill catch you in a UT: GOTY match sometime, or in JKII, but until then.. please drop the [==------------------------------==] it drives one to insanity
