wont boot up it go`s to black screen and it reads "insert bootable media in the appropriate drive_ the underscore is blinking ? has anyone ever seen this ?
Check in you BIOS that the booting sequence is correct.
If it is, make sure that you boot from the floppy first, and then try a bootable floppy disk... then try to diag it that way...
Hope this helps...

It sounds like it is not reading the hard drive correctly. I have had this problem before. Go into your computer and make sure the IDE cable is right side up, and that the master slave settings are properly set. Also, make sure you check your boot sequence in BIOS. Very important w/older PCs!
thank you George VII i just got home from work long day..lol...ok I will look as far as i know its correct but i`ll give it a shot. then i`ll post back.
George VII : ok all in order and the hp recovery disk starts and says starting windows 95 please wait then after that it say welcome the the HP Recovery choose Y N to setup. i choose Y enter and it goes to G: and thats that....cant type no other letter in only G: so i type in like it said system recover and nothing. so i rebooter the computer and i got HP logo then F1 to setup or ESC to exit. i F1 setup defaults and it boots up HP logo black screen please insert bootable media in the appropriate drive _ cant type a command or nothing keeps repating.
