Misc video questions

Ok,

system is

Asus A7S333 mobo
Athlon XP 1600+
768 Ram
120 GB HD
SB Live 5.1
Asus 9520 Video suite (the video card with VIVO)
DVD +RW
CDR RW

OS is XP Pro

I for a while had problems (after I installed new video card) that the system would reboot randomly (generally 3 or 4 mins after I turned on) it wouldnt affect system but was annoying, updated all my drivers, bios and changed speed settings on ram in bios (I had minor problems when got first 256 ram a year ago and found a happy setting, with bios update it had returned to default) and that seems to have solved the restart problem, havent had it in a while. My problem is (geez im only just getting to it) that while the system is running (I have the asus video card monitor program running) it will occasionally pop up and state that one of the operating voltages to the card are outwith specifications, not the same one all the time but it is always that the card is gettting TOO MUCH voltage (not a lot though its like the 12 V in will get 12.56 V etc) Im just a little concerned that my PSU is not operating well (I had to replace my full system about yr ago as my PSU fritzed on me and killed my mobo proc and ram) and am looking for advice

Thanks
Steve

so what exactly is the problem, your video card is getting 12.5x volts rather than 12 volts solid? There is a lot of variation in what your card is really getting, and the only way to tell would be to test the 12+ line with a voltmeter.

I have had motherboard monitoring programs that tell me all kinds of different stories about the voltages, and often they were skewed heavily compared to what the bios would tell me.

check your 12+ line in the bios. regardless, i have a very good Antec Trupower 430w and my voltages are just as off as my el cheapo codegen 350 was.

Is something off on the fritz because of this, or are you just worried about your video card? Personally i wouldn't worry about the voltage levels, as they are going to consistently flux no matter what PSU you purchase for it.
