Zone Alarm Pro/ Program being accessed without my knowledge!!

Hi,

Im currently using zone alarm pro and when I click into the "program control" tab it shows a list of programs that have been accessed by me (ie:Outlook Express, Internet Explorer)...
However, 10 seconds later, I noticed that programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, command prompt appeared on the list of programs that I know I haven't opened. Access and server were not granted cuz ther were question marks underneath it...

IS THIS NORMAL?!??!! PLEASE HELP!!

Thanks!

Yes, It is normal.

ZA will list all programs that it believes will need access to the net so that you can preconfigure it.

If a question mark appears next to the program then:
-that program has either not tried to access the net
-or you have ZA set to ask you each time that program wants to access the net.

ONLY programs with a green checkmark have you giving access to the net. A red X means you have not giving that program access.

So, even though I had never opened up Microsoft word, excel or command prompt EVER while using zone alarm it will pop up??
Sorry if Im asking this question twice!! It's just that I figured programs that I've opened and used would pop up in the program control and stay there.... Maybe Im just being paranoid cuz I've been hit with so many viruses in the past, Im thinking that maybe i've got another one!!

Thanks for your input : )

I won't worry much unless you get a program you don't reconize on the list.

For example;
I once got something like 'A00385','AK6578',and 'RD6453" They never asked for access and turned out to be part of my RealOne player.

PS:
Now that you got that down! Try playing with ZA's cookie controls.
