Temple of Elemental Evil is Out

The Temple of Elemental Evil, the successor to the Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, and Planescape style Dungeons and Dragons role playing games for your computer has been released. It's probably been out for a bit now, but I just noticed it last night in Walmart.

I may put a review of the game up in a few days. Keep your eyes peeled. Or at least open.

Thanks the for the info Whir. Here's some linkage to the game:

I can't say that I have enough money right now to even think about getting another game but given this screenshot:

I don't think it's using the NWN engine to run. After playing an RPG in a 3D world it might be really hard for me to go back to the older 2D style of play.

Hopefully they'll release a demo so I can give it a try anyway though.

It doesn't use the NWN nights engine. It uses a more advanced version of the Baldur's Gate engine - part of the reason I didn't list NWN in the list.

Characters, monsters, some other things are 3D, but the backgrounds are done in the original 2D BG style.

I'm trying to cope with not being able to spin the screen around as you can in NWN. Heh.

And this is why I sold my copy of BG2. I had real trouble makeing the leap backwards despite the fact that it was one of the best RPG's ever.

Let us know how it goes though, I'd love to hear about it.
