Talk Asus Or MSI Mobo?

For the price range I'm thinking I have found the Asus A7N8X (not the deluxe) and the MSI K7N2 Delta-L. They are both the same price most places I have looked at. Is there really much of a difference? And if so what are the differences? I have also noticed the MSI-FX5200-TD128 Vid card for around $100 canadian so im wondering if that would run better in the MSI mobo then? This video card apparantly supports the direct x 9 and seems to be the cheapest one that does. Suggestions needed on these. Thanks.

The Asus is currently the best mobo on the market for socket A Athlon XP's. Although the FX5200 is DX9, the ti4200 outperforms it. Consider spending about 20 more and pick it up.(that is, if you game and want good performance)

So the whole thing with the dx9 isnt really worth it then? unless of course you are spending alot on a awesome card I guess. Ya I think I will go with the Asus Mobo though. Is the deluxe version that much different really? And in reply to the gaming, ya I wouldnt even bother upgrading if i didnt hehe. I sometimes wonder if i shouldnt just buy an X-box and be done with these expensive money pits.

MSI and Asus are pretty much on par, you cant go wrong with both.

I run a MSI board and I love it.

They are both good Mboards from two good companys.
I have the ASUS, have serveral MSI boards (MSI K7N2-L) but not the Delta. There all good boards.
Whereas some manufactures like MSI chose to come out with a new model for the nvidia "Ultra 400" chipset, others such as ASUS implemented the new chipset into there current boards.
The board I personally like is the Abit NF7-S. This board is also available without the bells and whistles, NF7. It would be on par with what your looking at with the ASUS and MSI models.

The Asus seems to be the most popular right now. If you want to overclock, it adjusts FSB in 1 mhz increments, the MSI board has 133/166/200 settings.

The Nf7 is comparable to the Asus, without the bells and whistles. The NF7 has holes in the mobo to mount a water cooler on the cpu.

It's one of those "get what you pay for" kinda deals

MSI board specially the K7N2 board also adjusts FSB in 1 mhz increments if you set it to manual.

thanks, Darth. I did not know that, built a comp with K7N2, and sold to a friend.

Didn't get into o'clocking, the Barton 2500 was scary fast at stock speeds.

No problom.

The Barton with stock HSF on that board with just a thermal pad can reach 2800+ stable, its a great board for overclocking although the A78X is probally better.
