dual boot woes

well....
heres the thing

couple days ago puter starts acting all goofy
ran a virus scan and had about 1000 files infected with that slow moving virus W32.pinfi

attached itself to WAY to many exe. files

so went with a clean install needed it anyways
formatted my d:drive the primary slave I think it is.. put 98 on it fat 32 ran smooth added norton and scanned my c drive (primary master) well the quarentined files wouldnt fit on the small 1.2 gig d drive so decided to back up what I could and reformat that drive also ( c drive )

started loading xp pro into that and decided to try the ntfs file system .. it all went on good but @ boot up lost ability to get into the win 98 on d :
tried a boot manager when I went to the 98 it simply caused a reboot ?
now I figured wtf guess I'll reformat the d: (again)

butt.. fer some reason It only shows a c drive, come to find out thats the 98 drive (which was d drive before)
seems it wont show the xp drive under DIR in dos ?

well reformatted the c drive (which had the 98 on it) . goto reload 98 into it and it gives me an error saying somethin bout the ntfs file system ( which that drive didnt have )

clear as mud so far?

ok, I guess I wanna know, can I not dual boot with one drive fat 32 and one ntfs ?

and if not how do I get to a point that I can reformat my primary to fat 32 ?

geeze I feel like a dork these days

thx for the help

You need to use 'FDISK' and delete the "Non-DOS" partition.

You can dual boot between 98 and XP using NTFS, but 98 won't be able to access/see any of the stuff on the NTFS partition.

I would just make both partitions FAT32 unless you desperatley need to have NTFS.
