Check out the reviews at Tom's

"Summary: The P4 3.2 EE wins 32 times, the Athlon 64 FX-51 15 times - an uncertain 64-bit future for AMD"

The Athlon 64 FX seems better for gaming, faster fetch, doubled L2 cache and a new memory controller really helps.

I wonder what would OC better. P4 3.2 C EE or the 64 FX?

The A64 is not going to be a good overclocker because of the memory controller being on-chip.

It might as well be called Opteron.

Let us also not forget that all of the tests i have seen are done with a 32bit OS on the Athlon 64. Once Windows XP 64bit edition comes out, i am sure we will really start to see the advantage 64 bit can offer.

I hope so, the benchmarks I have seen that involves the beta of XP 64 bit eddition were much lower.

All these comments... everyone talking about the FX51 vs. the P$ EE.

Um, who actually buys those processors?

He's pointing to a 754 pin (single channel version), 350$ processor, not a $1000+ one.

Who cares about flagship performance except 2 or 3 people with way to much money on their hands?

And in answer to your question, it doesn't have a front side bus as it's usually defined (although fsb is an outdated term in of itself because the backside one was for external cache chips). It's memory controller operates at the same frequency as the processor, and the memory bus at 333 right now, 400 in the future if I remember correctly. The hypertransport link from the processor to the southbridge runs at 800 mhz, if you want to call that the fsb, but I wouldn't.

Tis a whole different animal here...

Sam
