95 Networking problem

HELP - My wife's business has two 95 pc's networked. More often than not, the connection is lost at start up and we have to remap the network drive, which now doesn't work most of the time. Is there anything I can do to resolve this issue? Thanks in advance.

Are the two 95 computers the only computers at your wife's work? Are they part of a workgroup?

I have several 95 computers running on my network where i work. And your 95 machines will not keep a drive mapping unless you tell them to remember it. But, if you boot up and the 95 computer cannot find the mapped drive, then it will forget about it and you will have to remap it. Unfortunatly, there is not much you can do about that.

If, the 95 machines are both trying to connect to another resource on another computer, then you can write a small batch file to map the drives at start up. But you have to make sure that the resources are going to be there, otherwise it will not work. If the 95 machines are connecting to each other, then you will have to boot the both, and then run a batch file to map the drives. This batch file can just be a file on the desktop that the user double clicks or something.

Hope this info helps you out.

There is an option to reconnect on startup or not reconnect until a mapped drive is called. Is it set to reconnect on startup? If so, and the connection is not made, try a step-by-step boot and see if any errors are returned.
