Tyan Radeon 9600 Pro

I read that the Tyan Radeon 9600 Pro uses memory chips clocked at 275 MHz, but Tyan overclocks them to the Radeon 9600 Pro specs of 300 MHz. I do not have a problem overclocking, but my friend who knows nothing about overclocking is a little concerned. He read that overclocking reduces the life expectancy of the hardware. He chose the Radeon 9600 Pro because it was the cheapest card he could buy that could play the upcoming games, but he also wants to keep it for a long time. Will the Tyan card with overclocked memory chips last shorter than other cards with normal clocked settings?

People that are squemish about overclocking have unfounded fears. Yes, it MAY reduce how long the card will last. But these things last so long that by the time it gave out, it will be a POS.
