Kids I get loud "Pops and Clicks" sound on my Z680

I use the following environment.
SB Audigy-->Optical Digital I/O 2(enables optical and coaxial ouput/input)--> optical, coaxial input to Z680.

Z680 does detect AC3 or DD signal whenever I play AC3 divx or DD DVD disc. the problem is whenever I navigate though the movie, Z680 redetect the signal automatically, detect stereo signal, then after skipping some part of the movie, Z680 detect digital signal again.(of course this happens in less than a second) whenver this happens I hear this loud "Pops and Clicks" on my speaker. Now this pops and clicks
is much louder than the sound thats occurs when I switch the input.

I did read the following article about common spearker problem

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm?pa...9&languageid=1

According to the article, the main cause of this Pops and Clicks soud is
"Interrupts in the Digital Bitstream". It also statest that "This behavior generally occurs with older software and older players, but is uncommon on most modern equipment. "

Now I dont regard my SB audigy as unmodern equipment. I use the latest Codecs for
my AC3 DIVX and windvd 4 platinum for playing DVD.

Someone else who has Z680 and MAYA 5.1 GOLD soundcard also has the same problem.

Is this "Pops and Clicks" behavior totally normal?(which I dont think so)

someone help me plz.

What motherboard chipset are you using? This is a classic problem with the KT133 chipsets.

Misc

The problem is the Acpi is enabled disable it by going into control pannel to system and device manager and there should be a computer icon on the top of the list click on it and go to properties and update driver and you choose the location to download from
not the software and then choose standard pc you will have to reboot and you should be good to go I had the same problem
with the Audigy 2ZS

I actually have the exact same problem when playing a movie and the z680 control panel tries to detect dolby digital sound. It makes this sharp click noise when the mode switches to dolby digital. Right now I am digitally connected to z680 via Coax cable.

I've tried to install the "standard pc" from device manager, but it seems to cause me more problems. My wireless network card stops working and my video card messes up.

My computer setup is:
Dell PowerEdge 400SC
P4 3.2GHz 800FSB with Hyper Threading
Kingston 512MBx2 PC3500 HyperX Memory
Ati Radeon 128MB 9600 XT
Creative Audigy Platinum
D-Link AirPlus DWL-G520 Wireless Network Card

Anything that can cause the "click" noise? Are there anyone else having the same problem?

Talk I get loud "Pops and Clicks" sound on my Z680

When the Z680 switches to digtial and gives those sounds

that's normal. The problem I was have was really with the

Audigy2 , but that is normal I get the same kind a sound when it

switches to DTS in XMEN2 or Dolbly Digital in any movie. The

external decoder is just letting you know that a change is being

made. So you have a normal situation on your hands, do not

make any changes because your system is functioning normally.

Again my Audigy 2 Card was making poping and clicking sounds

but it was all due to ACPI configuration.
