Need board for AMD K-6/500 2.2V

Hey all i just got a comp send to me for repair which was an old gateway, and they swapped all the parts to a new case new PSU, cause it wasned working.

I plugged it in, and it just turns on. No Image no beep no nothing.

When i do 5 sec shutdown, it turns right back on.

im guessing the Mobo is shot. So now im looking for a new cheap motherboard for that AMD K6-2/500.

Anyone know where i can get oen of those boards cause newegg dont have em.

Its just a standart Socket 370 right? But i heard not all 370s support K6's i dunno if thats tru cause of the different voltages but i hope yall can help me.

Thx

Coyote

You need to look for a board that supports Socket7 or Super Socket7

I found one at PriceWatch.

From Package2you.com

They look pretty good over at ResellerRatings as well.

If the power supply is 300w you might try a duron and motherboard instead...sell them on the upgrade..they will have TONS more power and upgrade-ability.

Even something like this might be a cool idea..with a built in duron. http://store.yahoo.com/bilsystem-sto...urpcchip3.html

Socket 7 is soooooooo old...it wont even show up on a benchmark comparison.

Good point, probably cheaper in the end as well.

Just trying to point out that if they just want to spend >$50 for right now, you could replace their board.

socket 7 and 370 have as much to do with each other as p4 and athlon sockets do...nothing.
The only possible relation is the heatsink/fan may possibly interchange.

Hmmm... found this SS7 mobo at surpluscomputers.com:

http://www.softwareandstuff.com/mb_cmpqss7.html

It's a compaq mobo using the MVP4 chipset. No AGP slot. $20 + shipping.
