rlogin help

Hello All,

I have a Redhat 9 install that is a workstation install. i need to allow it to receive rlogin commands but at the moment it wont.

I have looked in /etc/xinetd.d/ dorectory and neither rlogin or rsh files are in there.

Is there an easy way to install what I need or to activate what I need to get rlogins working?

Thank in advance

Barry..

OK... are you sure rsh wants to run as a xinetd service and not standalone?

Check the manual page to find out and if necessary create the required xinetd.d file, using an existing file as a template.

If possible, use ssh instead - it's more secure and easy to get working. Is there any particular reason you need to use rsh?

I believe that the remote sevices (rlogin, rsh, rexec) don't get installed by default. You have manually select them.

They should appear under /etc/xinetd.d if they are installed. You'll also have to edit the files to enable them, as they will be disabled by default.
