Outdoors Windows 98/Me bug

i always have this problem when ever i'm running something with a progress bar! unless i keep clicking in front of the progress bar as it moves, processes take about 2 hours to complete

i had that bug the whole time i had WinMe on my PC. i was just wondering if microsoft had a fix for it and if anyone else has the bug.

That in fact isn't the latest version of Windows....Windows Server 2003 is the latest. Sorry, I just had to say that. I prefer that over XP any day except for compatibility of some hardware and some applications.

Anyway...I too, would reccomend upgrading to XP. I highly don't reccomend ME because of the crappy way it handles memory. Windows 98 isn't great at handling memory either. XP is better at handling memory.

Let me say this....I have a 466mhz Celeron w/ 256mb of PC133. I had 98 on it and I stuck XP on it. I thought XP would be slower than 98...I was wrong. XP was faster than 98.

dont bother putting XP on anything with less than 256MB of memory.
with 64, it will run sloooooow, if at all.
Get yourself 2 sticks of 128mb pc66 or pc100 and you'll be doing better.

XP will run fine on 128mb...I've tried that out before. It will run on 64mb but, it will be slow. I have a friend that has a computer that is a 350mhz Athlon K7 w/ 64mb EDO (slower than PC100) RAM and it runs but, it does lag a bit. I imagine it would run better seeing that your ram is faster and you have twice the processing speed.
