Xcom Ufo Defense

I was playing tonight this game on and old system that I fixed today and Im wodering if there is another game like this one...

I remember an Xcom Enforcer was released some time ago but it was a shooter not an strategy game...

Anyone knows if a new version is going to be released...

There were several sequels to the original X-Com: UFO Defense (or Enemy Unknown).

X-Com: Terror From The Deep
X-Com: Apocalypse
Some flying one (can't remember the name).

I believe I heard that there is a group out there that is re-developing the original X-Com game to make it more "XP" friendly.

Ahh, XCOM. One of the greatest games ever...and unfortunately one far from being matched. If you like the gameplay style though, you may want to try out Laser Squad 2 (do a google for it).

I have often wondered the same thing in the past and some suggestions I recieved were Fallout: Tactics and Jagged Alliance 2. Both of these use the same viewing angle as X-Com although the goal of the game is not the same. (In Fallout: Tactics and Jagged Alliance 2, you hire mercs and follow specific missions instead of beating on aliens.) You might want to give them a try.

As far as the atmosphere and gameplay goes, X-Com UFO Defense really is a unique game. The only one that comes close is X-Com 2: Terror from the Deep, but I always saw that as a rehash of X-Com 1 with different names for the weapons and equipment.

well the thing that made xcom really good, its that you have to micromanage your base but it's not too deep you only have to worry on keeping research and manufacturing all the time (so you get more money selling weapons specially laser rifles that are cheap to make) and also you had to play with strategy on almost every mission specially the terror missions are very good I hated them when I had to fight on a night mission.

Truly this game was very ahead on gameplay..... I hope someone made this one with better graphics and audio it would be very enjoyable....

I'm trying to get the game (the gold edition by Hasbro) to run on windowsXP Pro, and while I can get it to run, the visuals are all blurry, like the resolution's off. Does anyone know what I have to do to get it to work so I can see what I'm doing? I've tried different compatability modes, but I can't find one that works.

Try this web to fix the visuals
http://www.xcomufo.com/

Specifically:

http://www.xcomufo.com/xcom1fix.exe for UFO defense
and
http://www.xcomufo.com/xcom2fix.exe for TFTD

It works with my XP perfectly
