label changes the name.

vol will show the name.

I never gave a name to my disk so when I just type "label"..it says

volume in drive c has no label
volume ser# is blah blah
volume label (11 characters, enter for none?)

You can check this out.

According to them the Label command is used to label the computer.

The rest of the page give a good description of all DOS commands. You can look through and find your answer.

Good luck

You can't just change an OS name

I'd agree with the others, its probably referring to the label ... quite odd.

subst wich is available on some installations lets you specify a "mount point" for a drive or directory. Need more detail for a complete answer.

Hi, I dont really have anymore information. I was helping a friend answer a question for her A+ course. (the review area in chapter 2 or something) and i just could not figure it out. Everything is worded so strange. LOL . I think i wanna take the course though now too. When she gets a reply to the answer, I will post it to see if it was what the instructor was looking for. Thanks for all of your suggestions.
