Gaming New Linux Install Help

I installed Mandrake 9.1 on my other system with a clean install from dos..

It was really hard to read the installation instructions but I made it through. My problem is that I get to the boot screen and it goes through some sequence then the screen blacks and then lightens up a bit almost to a navy blue and it just sits there.

Can anyone help me with some advice?

It sounds like it didn't figure the right graphics card or you changed something on the graphics portion of the install. You should be able to install with the cd's again, using the UPGRADE option instead of the full install, and correct the settings.

Other than that , you can of course try to manually fix the config files...........but that isn't for the faint of heart.... Not impossible, but upgrading and having the installer on the cd do the work is much easier

Well the sad thing is I can't even get INTO linux, it fails the boot sequence by dropping to a black screen at a certain point.

Now i've got partition problems that I might can only fix in Linux's custom partition configuration in the installer (which I can't read). Since I can't read it, it might be impossible for me to see what im doing.

Problems

It gets to loading sshm or ss whatever in the boot sequence (yes I have it installed) and then the screen resets, my keyboard stops responding (all lights go out) and then the system just stops...

What could it be?

Watch the boot sequence closely...... it's probably crapping out on the xserver ....... if so, reinstalling is usually the easiest for me. It sounds like the configuration is wrong on the graphics card.

Post your computers specs......

Is keyboard/mouse usb?
Graphics card type.
Processor/Ram
CdRom drive/ Cdrw drive

etc........ this might help........ especially the graphics card info and the proccessor / ram info.
