Google problems

Well for some reason something has taken over my google. It won't log on and I had to delete the tool bar. When I try to log on I get a huge page telling whats wrong but I'm not sure if it's legit or not. I have ran Adaware and Spybot but nothing changed. I ran a search in XP(Pro) to find everything that had to do with google to delete and still no good. Everything else on my system runs fine...this is really wierd....please help...thanks again

C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc
(actually C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc)

Check your hosts file (just a text file) and make sure there is no entry for google.com

Check around I believe I've seen this problem before here on the forums.

windows can't open the host file? says it meeds to know what created it

You can use notepad to open it

there was a whole string of google listed and I deleted it all but it still comes up the same
