Zen, It shows in the bios. I don't think that this is the problem.

Thanks anyway.

You might try safe mode and go to device mangler and remove all the cd drives, reboot and let windows find them and reinstall the drivers.

Good idea. You don't even have to be in safe mode to do it.

I would not update (or try to) the cdrom firmware untill the system is working correctly. This could make the situation worse.

Make sure the cable is plugged in firmly on both ends. The CD should be master on the IDE secondary port (on some computers you may need to use CS (cable select)).

Could it be a bad cable? Swap the cable with the primary IDE (be sure to swapp both ends) hard drive.

What was the original problem and how did you fix it (NTLDR)?

(What was the original problem and how did you fix it (NTLDR)?)

I was able to download this from microsoft.
I have switched the cables and this did not change anything. I don't think it is a bad cable because I have replace this with a new one also.

From enekomeg:
(Updating the firmware)
Tried this without success either.

From foggy:
(delete from system)
Tried this also without success.

Thanks again. I will try to change it to cable select. I have not tried this yet.
