Help If you can !

Hi first question for you or someone if they can help me.

I have a HP7920, 900mhz duron, with A7v-ML motherboard and i have followed a thread somewhere regarding unlocking the multiplier which i have done by using the pencil over the L1 4 broken lines. The machine boots up fine after doing this, however i should then be able to go into the bios and check out the multiplier and adjust as required. Problem is i can't find any option re: multiplier and really the bios only allows me to adjust some very basic settings.

So does any know what i need to do, Bios upgrade ? menu hidden somewhere lol

Help !!

Dan. Thanks if you can.

Hi,

we produce HP's at work, and I can tell you now, you will not be able to overclock with that motherboard.

HP uses Phoenix bios' in which the only things you can change are the following:

boot priority
initial display adapter

and some other stuff, but they went well out of their way to make sure there is no overclcoking to be done.

As is with most pre-built systems btw.

you could contact asus and request a new bios chip for the board, that one should carry an award bios.

That is yer only chance on doin any overclocking through bios.

Ultima, would that mobo have jumpers or dip switches to set the multiplier? If DANUK filled the bridges then the cpu will be unlocked?

Thanks for getting back to me but i'm not to bothered as upgrading anyway,

One other question though i was thinking of going with the barton 2500XP with A7N8X (i think it is) or a Intel Celeron 2.4ghz 128kb 400mhz with ASUS P4S800.

Which way would you go, as you can see i am on a budget and will probably fit it striaght into this case. Would there be any problems with just fitting MB and new Pro or is there anything else i need to do?

The Barton 2500+ is much much better than a Celery 2.4!
And that board you want for the Barton is among the best.

Get the Barton and slap yourself for considering the Celery.

lol okay well that jusat about says it all, thanks lolol.

SO if i go with the Barton and MB will i just be able to stick it in to my Case as is or will i need to upgrade anything else?

HP7920 in need of a kick up the backside you see!

I am hoping just to buy the MB and Barton and whack them in and boot up but will it be that easy ?

Third question is i will only be getting the A7n8X not the deluxe MB is this going to make much difference ?

Thanks Again

Dan

the barton runs at 333fsb , so make sure your ram is atleast pc2700 , for the case question it depends on the inside of your case , usuallly any board will fit in about any case but since your case was for a pre-built pc i really think you should look for the motherboard size and then your case size and just see if it fits , good luck
