Favorite heatsink for 2003.........

Well, I did what I said I'd never do & used an X-dreamer ($9) on a buddy's system. Turned down to about 3,000rpm, it actually worked really well. XP2000+ running 39C at half-load. Not too shabby! That's ONE case fan. Unfortunately, it is louder than most. I've used OEM-type & they work well enough & are a bit quieter. I usually keep with "Cooler Master" or at least a brand-name generic.

Just curious what fav's anybody has. Obviously, a $50 fan can easily be called a "favorite" but we're bargain-hunters here......(well, I'll at least profess to be......he he!) TIA!

Your V7 doesn't have an 80mm? Mine does...

Out of all the coolers I've use, the V7 is my favorite so far. But I've been eyeing up one of those Thermaltake Silent Boosts for my new chip.

I have an CoolerMaster Aero +7 HS w\ an X-Dream Fan in place of the blower!

The blower couldn't move enough air to cool my 2500+, The X-Dream fan does much better with the huge copper HS at the lowest setting (although I agree it is pretty loud).

Ya, I'm beginning to wonder if loud isn't the price we'll have to pay from here on out for being chea..............errrrr............."frugal"!! he he!

I have to admit, at $9 the X-dreamer is really a quality unit, just loud. Where else can you get an 80mm fan w/ cool aqua colored blades, a copper-base heatsink AND adjustability in fan speed for under $10?? Heck, they even throw in a baggie of thermal compound. Really hard to beat for the price.

I almost wish Dell used Athlons so I could see how they cool 'em. Lord knows their single-fan setup on p4's is a marvel to cooling the entire system........but hey.......it does work.

Factoring in cost, noise, and cooling ability, I'd have to say that my favorite is the Aeroflow as well. The Cooler Master X-dreamer is pretty high up on my list, but it makes a bit too much noise for me.
