New HD

I have just installed a Maxtor 120g HD for a slave. I do a lot of multimedia and need the storage space. My problem- while going thru the set up(ez-install) it comes to a point where it says it cannot format NTFS. I do want to install windowsXP on it but am not quite sure how to go about this. I first noticed that the drive did not show up in My Computer. But when I looked in the Device Manager , it said that it wos "working properly"!!!!

Hi there...im not on a XP machine right now..but i think its fairly the same. Click on START then SETTINGS and then CONTROL PANEL, then click on ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS. Then click on ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS and then on STORAGE. Does your HD show up there? If yes...you can do all the formatting from that area. Hope this is what you were looking for.]

I did a diskmanagement and got the drive formatted and installed. Thanks For everyone's help!!!!!!
