seems strange IMO

My sons PC smoked the powersupply last night. I changed out the PS and the system still won't boot. OK! hurt the board. Took every thing apart and on the bench the board with vid card will boot. Bios showes CPU and ram. Put it back together and if power supplied to Pri HD system won't boot. Unplug power to HD and it will boot.

Hard Drive can do this?

Unfortunately yes, have heard of similar instances before.

You can try a different power plug, but its entirely possible that the hard drive has been damaged and is causing your issue.

Yes, definitely can cause this. The drive is likely fried.

Fried it must be. I tried another drive and it works. Formating now. My son will learn the need for backups if his school work was on that drive and not backuped.
