FPS and users in win2k

i have a geforce2 mx 400 and i have installed counter strike and directx9.. i've played counter strike as a 'power user' in windows 2k with high fps.. but when i play as the administrator i get low fps on the game.. i've installed half life and directx as administrator but still it won't give me the same feel as when i play as a 'power user'..

someone please show me the way..

That's very odd. Perfomance of your system shouldn't make a difference depending on the acccoubt you're logged in...

Only guess I have is that you may have a background program running in Admin account which you don't have running for the power user account.

After logging into Admin account, try monitoring your processor usage and see if there are any programs that may be using the processor while idle..

well.. in counter strike.. it says that 640x480 is the recommended resolution.. so i tried it and it works fine.. but i have to use that resolution to get to 1024x768.. i can't go straight to the higher resolution.. i have to start at the lower resolution.. which is odd.. but it works..
