Systems Need help pn the K7S5a rev 3.1

I have a K7S5a Reve 3.1 motherboard with a n AMD XP2600+ processor and 1Gb of RAM. When trying to use it with Adobe Premiere Pro, the application errors and says that the CPU doesn't support the SSE instruction.

I just updated the BIOS to the 10/29/02 version, but it still doesn't work. I'm green on this and I need some help. Also, when the BIOS screen comes up the processor says 1250MHz processor. I used to have a 1700+ previously and just swapped the processor out. Could this be a probelm of a step that I missed somewhere.

I need to get a project out under Premiere soon and need to know if I have to get another Motherboard that supports the XP2600+ with SSE.

Thanks!

Is that a barton Cpu? If so I do not think that the k7s5a supports the 333mhz fsb.

The board suppoedly supports upto the 2600+, I think it only supports the 266Mhz on the bus. I guess it doesn't go as fast as it can, but does that affect the SSE instruction set? Others I've seen have the 1700+ - 2000+ types and they are working.

Is tihs just that once you get to the 2600+ it may not??

Is the cpu that you are using a 333mhz fsb or 266mhz fsb? And also you need to check in bios and see what the fsb of your computer is running.

Even worse! I just checked and the fsb on the chip is 333 and in the BIOS, the setting for CPU clock was set to 100/100 and I set it to 133/133 the fastest the BIOS allows.

What now? Time to get another MB? Or is this really the problems with the SSE instruction set?

How much more performance will I get by updating to a MB with 333 support (saw on a site the K7 that supports 333Mhz for $60)

Have you checked out this !!!

It will allow you to push the FSB and memory speed considerably
