Pretty much anything will work on many monitors
as long as you have the proper drivers for the video card. Right now I have this cool setup where my 19" monitor and something like 32" TV are hooked up at the same time. It sounds retarded but I do it so I can play DVDs and do productive computer work at the same time
I've done this on a GeForce 5200, GeForce4 MX something, GeForce2 Ti200 and Radeon 7200 LE. Not one of the GeForce cards I've done this with is listed on that MS support link posted, but they still worked; as long as I had the Nvidia drivers from the website.
As for the check boxes, I'll post pictures.
First we see our primary monitor.
Now here we see our secondary monitor. Note the box asking to extend the desktop to this monitor (great for playing a movie on 1 monitor and doing work on the other).
Now here we see the settings of how I change how my secondary monitor will act (for the movie thing I do, it doesn't need to be changed). I got to this menu by clicking the Nvidia logo in the system tray. I can also get it by going into display properties >> advance >> GeForce FX 5200 >> nView display mode. For my ATI cards it's pretty much the same thing; go to display properties >> advanced then start poking around.
