but I don't know why the 1700+ is more expensive than the 1800+
These are the AMD processors from Newegg.
What am i missing, and

Supply and demand. The 1700+ was a popular favorite among overclockers for many months, thus the supply is smaller than the 1800+. In our warped world of technology-based economics, this means the 1700+ will actually cost more, especially now that AMD is cutting production of older models.

You'd be better off getting the xp1800 as you have a better chance of getting a t-bred B. I bought an xp1700 when it was $40 but got a t-bred A. Overclocker's dream - yea right!
