Can a mouse crash your computer?

Hi gang.

My system crashes once in a while (bsod) but still able to continue sometimes. I noticed that it happens when I moved or clicked the mouse so that's my question. I have an MS optical mouse with windows installed drivers. Most of the time I have to restart my IE browser when it happens and sometimes it's when I'm playing my dos game Duke Nukem 3D. Thx.

\o/ Billy

EDIT: xp1700 t-bred, 512 mem, and win98se

Does it happen when you change the mouse?

I do remember once a tech having some issues with a certain mouse and game but it was related to using some sort of 3d pointer, or some special mouse pointer....it wasnt really the mouse itself.

I think anything is possible, and as cheap as you can get a trial mouse,it's worth a try.

Mouse issues can sometime be related to underlying graphics driver problems or a virus! you should check them both out.

I've had this mouse for maybe a year and these bsods started a few weeks ago. I'm using animated pointers. Come to think of it JP may be right but I've used them for years but now? I'll go to regular pointers and see if that's the issue. Thx.

EDIT: BC, you mean try another mouse? I have a box full of them but no optical ones. If changing the pointers don't work I'll grab my favorite one out of there.
