Redhat Problems (Linux)

I recently chose Redhat as my main distro and I am so far very happy with it. The only problem is that I want to install the Nvidia Video driver and I have already made this in Mandrake (another distro) but I cant find the option in Redhat to boot into vga console mode. In Mandrake this was located in the configure computer area I think but I cant find where the option is in Redhat and to install the driver I need to be in vga console mode. Please help a Linux newbie here since I really know how to install the driver. Thanks for listening

dan

hi dan,
i am sure there is a way with tge GUI tools, but i don't know them! but i do know if you open a terminal and type su - (if you are not logged in as root) and enter roots passwrd, then type init 3 you should be dropped to a console, if not exit X windows by logging out and then you will be dropped to a console.

then run the nvidia program, be sure to edit /etc/X11/XF86confifg (change nv to nvidia under the vieo card driver area, and comment out the load dri and possiblely load GLcore.

when all done type init 5 and you should be set.

make sure you installed the kernel source when you did your install, if not install them now before trying to install the nvidia driver.
