Note: I found a neat utility that may help serial external modem users. I was hoping that it would help my problem with the NetWaiting (MOH, modem on hold, for Conexant based modems) program, but no such luck. However, it does seem to enhance the crispness of my web surfing .
. It is called SHSMOD (serial high speed mod). It can set your serial port speed to run at:
ALI: (230400,460800bps)
NS: (230400,460800,921600bps)
SMC: (230400,460800bps)
WinBond: (230400,460800,921600bps)
VIA VT82C686A/B: (230400,460800bps)
for the supported chips. This can enhance the responsiveness of your modem if its serial port can also operate at such speeds. Here is the link:

. Enjoy!
