Receive faxes when not home?

I'm seriously looking at a 4 in 1 Fax/Copier/Scanner/Printer, and I'd like to know if it's possible to receive faxes while not at home. Does the phone line go into the fax, and then out to the phone, and people can hit 1# or something like that? I'm new to at home faxes, so any help is appreciated!

Yes most all in one faxes work just like your thinking at least the ones I've used have. Basically when your not home it acts like an answering machine and you get the all too familiar message if your faxing begin transmition now or whatever and if not leave a message.
