DVD burning problems
Hi all, I have a problem burning DVD-R's on my computer. It is a custom built based off an Intel 865PERLL motherboard running on a P-4 2.8GHz on an 800MHz FSB. It has 1GB of Corsair XMS Extreme memory and it runs as smooth as a bell. It is running on Windows XP Pro. The DVD-R is a Toshiba SD-R5002, firmware upgraded as well. The media is the same as my friend uses and he hasn't seen a problem yet, however he is using a different burner (dont know off hand). Anyway, I attempted to burn a CD using Sonic Foundry's DVD archictect...it worked just fine, burned succesfully and when I went to use it on my home DVD player, made all kinds of noises & spit it out, so I tried it on the comp, no good on the DVD-R drive/My DVD-ROM drive, Windows Explorer doesnt show any files on the DVD, and eventually just gives me a message to insert a disk into the drive. I don't know why this would be, any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

My first guess would be that your drives do not support the standard you burned them in.
My laptop drive only recognizes dvd-r/w media, not dvd+r/w.
That's only a guess.

| Thanks Muno, however I did use DVD-R's on this project. Also on a note, the firmware upgrade wasn't complete apparently, I burned a new one, and it seems to have worked. It will play on ULead DVD player as well as the ATI DVD player that came w/my 9600 Pro, however when it try's to open it in InterActual player 2.0, or Windows Media Player 9.0, boh programs freeze quickly, and an illegal error follows quickly. I find that odd, I just wonder if this is going to be a problem with everyone else who trys to play it.
Thanks,
Mike

you may also be trying to burn at a higher speed than the disks capability (eg your dvd-r supports 4x burning but you are attempting 8x burning)
similar thing happened to me trying to burn a 16x cd-r at 24x
